We are thrilled to announce LamnthLab 2026, our third annual open call for composers. Two selected composers will receive a commissioning fee of $1,000 to write a new work for violin and cimbalom.

Application Guidelines

• Anyone from anywhere can apply—there are no restrictions on age, location, or nationality

• Applications are due by 11:59pm EDT, August 15th, 2026

• The only materials required are scores and recordings of two existing compositions from your portfolio (the submitted works DO NOT need to include violin or cimbalom)

• There is no fee to apply

Selected Composers Will Receive

• $1,000

• Virtual workshops/rehearsals with Lamnth throughout the 2026-2027 concert season, as needed (composers do not need to be physically present with us in Boston for any part of the collaboration)

• An introductory workshop on composing for cimbalom

• Audio/visual documentation of the premiere performance, similar to what can be seen here

 

Collaboration Timeline

• Selected composers will be notified in September 2026

• The new works will be due by August 31st, 2027 and will be premiered during the 2027/2028 concert season
